“T-fence – a solution for controlling coastal erosion in the Mekong Delta” is awarded as Golden Kite of 2016 by Vietnam Cinema Association. The film was co- produced in 2016 by National Studio for Documentary and Scientific film (DSF) and GIZ with support from the governments of Australia and Germany and Viet Nam. International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture Adapted to Climate Change – Broadcast on VTV 1
The conference on “International Cooperation on Sustainable Agriculture Adapted to Climate Change“ was held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) on 6th December 2016 in Hanoi. Representatives of UNDP, FAO and more than 40 countries attended the conference. At the conference Dr. Christian Henckes, Programme Director of GIZ-ICMP, emphasized: we need an long-term initiative led by the Vietnamese government to save the Delta. There are 3 areas of key importance namely the efficiency of public investment, water management and land-use planning.   
Mekong Climate Resilience – A film of World Bank
The movie featured the current situation of the Mekong Delta and the threats that the region is facing. It emphasized the need of regional coordination, inter-sectoral and multi-provincial approach in order to achieve a climate-resilient long-term sustainable development for Viet Nam. (Green Growth).   
Climate Change in the Mekong Delta What can Viet Nam do against it_Policy Dialogue
The dialogue was broadcasted on VTV 1 with the participation of Representatives from MONRE, MARD, national expert and Dr. Christian Henckes, ICMP Programme Director. The show identified the main reasons for changing of ecosystem in the Mekong Delta and also the needs of inter-sectoral and multi-province approach. In order to achieve a climate-resilient long-term sustainable development (Green Growth), we have to act together. But how should we act together? The dialogue provided besides introduction about the Mekong Delta Climate Resilience Initiative. The goal of the initiative is to develop and implement an integrated strategy for the Mekong Delta, covering areas including water management, agriculture, coastal protection and governance. The initiative could be designed as a program-based approach in which various actors, Vietnamese institutions, bilateral development partners and multilateral development banks and funds – follow the common program logic.   
Floating Rice in the Mekong Delta – 2 Episode Documentary film broadcasted on VTV2
Floating rice is a rice variety that is adapted to flood and therefore is more in-tune with the natural flood conditions of the Mekong Delta. The film, aired on VTV 2 in December 2015, explains the efforts of Vietnamese authorities and the Integrated Coastal Management Programme (ICMP) to conserve and expand floating rice in the future.

Mangrove restoration in high erosion areas is greatly facilitated by the use of protective melaleuca fences. Practical methods for fence establishment have been developed in Vam Ray village, Hon Dat, Kien Giang Province.   
Foreign Direct Investment in the Mekong Delta
Many businesses that are looking for an investment location in Viet Nam make the mistake of not considering the Mekong Delta due to lack of information. The publication “ Mekong Delta, an emerging investment destination in Viet Nam” was launched in March 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City. This highlights the opportunities for investors in the Mekong Delta, while also presenting the remaining challenges that international businesses may face in the region. Strategies for Adaptation to Climate Change such as Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) and the introduction of suitable salt tolerant/flood tolerant rice varieties, along with other Good Agricultural Practices can contribute to more efficient use of natural resources and higher incomes.   
Conference on Regional Coordination in Vietnam 3 April 2016, VTV 1
On Sunday, April 3rd 2016, the international conference "Regional linkage in economic restructuring and growth model change in Vietnam”, which was jointly organized by the Vietnamese Communist Party and the German Embassy, was held in Hanoi. The conference was co-chaired by Mr. Vương Đình Huệ - member of the Political Bureau, Chairman of Central Economic Commission and Mr. Christian Berger, Ambassador of Germany in Vietnam. 300 Vietnamese and international participants discussed how the coordination between the 63 provinces of Vietnam with regard to increased competitiveness of regions and economic agglomerations could be improved. The report includes interviews with Mr. Vương Đình Huệ, Ms. Victoria Kwakwa and Severin Peters.

GIZ Faces and Stories – “Hero of Development”
Viet Nam is one of the countries that is worst affected by climate change. In five provinces along the Mekong Delta, GIZ- ICMP has been assisting coastal inhabitants since 2011 to safeguard themselves against increasingly extreme weather events. Some of the coastal protection measures commissioned by the Federal German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) target the restoration of mangrove forests. Around 320 hectares have already been reforested. One of the villages benefiting from this is Au Tho B. Vegetable farmer Thach Soal, 67, tells us his story
