Awarding medal “For the cause of Agriculture and Rural Development” to JICA Representative

GLX In December 9th, in Hanoi, Le Quoc Doanh - Vice Minister on behalf of MARD has awarded a medal “For the Cause of Agriculture and Rural Development” to Mr. Mori Mutsuya, Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office (former Chief of JBIC Vietnam Office, Vice Director of Southeast Asia - International Cooperation Agency Tokyo, Japan).

Joining in the awarding ceremony to congratulate Mr. Mori Mutsuya were representatives from Departments of MARD, Management Board of Forestry Projects and colleagues from JICA Vietnam Office.

At the ceremony, Vice Minister Le Quoc Doanh honored and recognized significant contribution of  Mr. Mori Mutsuya to the cause of Agricultural and Rural Development of Vietnam in recent years, to maintain better friendship between the Governments and people of the two countries Vietnam and Japan. He also appreciated great support that Mori Mutsuya and organizations as JBIC, JICA have shown to MARD in promoting restructure of agricultural sector.

Over the years, the government, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Vietnamese people have received tremendous support from the Government of Japan in the field of Agriculture and Rural Development. In particular, ODA programs and projects (loans and grants) funded by Japan government have been implemented effectively in all regions of Vietnam, contributing to accelerate agricultural restructure and generating income for farmers and the poor households.

During his work in Vietnam since 2002, Mori Mutsuya has managed and coordinated all Japanese ODA funded programs and projects for Vietnam in the field of forestry, agriculture and rural development; created favorable conditions in supporting program/project development such as project on watershed protection forest  afforestation in central provinces from Quang Tri to Phu Yen (Project JICA1); Phan Ri - Phan Thiet irrigation project, especially the project on " protection forest rehabilitation and sustainable management" using Japanese ODA loan (Project JICA2); the project on " sustainable forest natural resources management" expected to launch in Hanoi, Lam Dong and Dien Bien ... in June 2015.

Mr. Mori Mutsuya expressed the pleasure of receiving awarded medal  and shared thanks for having many opportunities to work and contribute to the Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, wishing that fruitful relationship with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Government of Vietnam will be maintained in the future, seeking for measures to deal with the challenges in rural development.
