Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and People Committee of 4 province Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi, Bình Định and Phú Yên.

Project owner: Management Board of Forestry Projects (MBFP)

3. Project objective:

3.1 Overall objective:

To contribute to the improvement of the living standards of the forest-dependent rural population, to the protection of natural resources, to equal water resource at forest rehabilitated area and adjacent region, to equal climate and to enrich the bio-diversification.

3.2 Project purpose:

To rehabilitate and sustainably manage about 21.400 ha of degraded forest land and sustainably manage about 3.500 ha of secondary forest to contribute to protect natural resource. To create job for about 15.000 farm households with stable income through diversifying forest products.

4. Project duration:

10 years from 2005 to 2014 (including 7 years of afforestation and 3 years of post-implementation)

5. Project budget: 12,815 million EURO, in which:

- Sponsored fund: 9,715 million EURO.

- Counterpart fund: 4,1 million EURO.

Counterpart fund for national project management unit (NPMU) is allocated by MARD. Counterpart fund for local project management units is allocated by provincial people committee.

6. Total project target area:

a. Identified area is 21.400 ha, in which:

- Quảng Nam:                      4.600 ha

- Quảng Ngãi:                       3.800 ha

- Bình Định:                           8.000 ha

- Phú Yên:                             5000 ha.

b. Target area for Component of Community Forest Management: 3.500 ha.

c. Trial model in Phu Yen province: 58,20 ha
