On March 10, 2023, the VFBC Project Management Unit of Hoa Binh province coordinated with the Mai Chau District People's Committee to conduct a communication event on forest and forest land use rights, forest protection and forest fire preventation in Hich 1 village. Mai Hich commune, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province.
On the afternoon of March 12, Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development - Mr. Le Minh Hoan visited the exhibition booth of the Saving Threaten Wildlife Project (STW) in Buon Ma Thuot city.
Within the framework of the 8th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2023, the Saving Threaten Wildlife Project (STW) has coordinated with the Dak Lak Fatherland Front Committee to organize propaganda and raise awareness to the community about wildlife protection, launching the program "Buon Ma Thuot City says NO to illegal wildlife products"
In order to support forest owners to access Drone technology, from February 28 to March 2, 2023, the VFBC Project in collaboration with FFI, VFBC Project Management Unit in Quang Binh province implemented a “training course on using image-compositing software from drone images to monitor forests for technical staff of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Quang Binh Province" supported by VFBC Project.
In response to the World Wildlife Day (March 3), on the morning of 5th March, the "Running to conserve wildlife" was held at Bach Ma National Park, Thua Thien Hue province.
On the afternoon of March 3, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Saving Threaten Wildlife (STW) Project in collaboration with the Vietnam Federation of Trade and Industry - Ho Chi Minh City Branch (VCCI-HCM) held a conference to strengthen social responsibility and fight against illegal wildlife trade, towards sustainable development.
On 23th February 2023, at the Management Board for Forestry Projects, a group of national and international experts from the USAID Learns Project shared research results and proposed solutions to mitigate climate change in the Mekong Delta in the framework of preparation of the Climate Change Adaptation Project that USAID has committed to sponsor for Vietnam since June 2022.
From 20-25th February 2023, in Quang Binh, the VFBC Project cooperated with FFI Organization, the VFBC Project Management Board of Quang Binh province to conduct a training course on " Improving knowledge and skills in handling situations related to forest and wildlife encroachment” for members of interdisciplinary team supported by the VFBC Project.
In response to World Wildlife Day on 3rd March 2023, from 17-19th February 2023 at Tu Tuong Park, Le Loi Street, Hue City, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) in collaboration with Thua Thien Hue Forest Protection Department, WWF Office organized a community communication campaign with the message “Wild meat next to the mouth, the danger is waiting” with the goal of raising public awareness of potential risks to wildlife meat consumption through experiential activities, interacting with live images to attract and provide information about the risks associated with wildlife, thereby reducing and ending the consumption of wild animal meat and wildlife products.
On the afternoon of February 13, three Vietnamese organizations received species conservation fund of the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) sponsored by USAID.
From 4-7 January 2023 in Sapa town - Lao Cai province and 6-11 February 2023 in Hoi An city - Quang Nam province, the Sustainable Forest Management Component - VFBC Project organized 02 training courses on "Asset Based Community Development (ABCD)" in resource management and sustainable forest development.
From 8-9 February 2023 in Ninh Binh province, the Biodiversity Conservation Component (VFBC Project) organized a capacity building training course for forest rangers and staff of Cuc Phuong National Park, Ninh Binh province about using Wildlife Insights software in managing biodiversity survey data by image traps.
Implementing the 2023 plan, from 8-9 February 2023 in Xuan Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) in collaboration with Quang Binh Forest Protection Department organized a training course on communication skills on forest and wildlife protection for the community communication groups.
On 10th February 2023, the Management Unit of the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) in Thua Thien Hue province in collaboration with the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue province, Nam Dong District People's Committee, Vietnam Helvetas and the Vietnam Community Tourism Association organized a seminar to exchange experiences on community tourism and connect community tourism in Thua Thien Hue province.
In two days from 12-13 January 2023 in Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) in collaboration with the Forest Protection Department in Phu Loc District, the Commune People's Committee in Loc Tien commune and Lang Co town organized communication activities to raise awareness and understanding for the community about the risks of violating the law from hunting, catching, storing, advertising, trading and using wild animals and wildlife products, and call for the participation of community to join hands to protect wildlife.
On 29th December in Dong Ha city, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) in Quang Tri province held a conference to evaluate activities in 2022 and implement the plan of 2023.
From 19-23 December 2022, in Quang Binh, the Biodiversity Conservation Component (VFBC Project) organized a training course to improve the application of geographic information systems (GIS) in forest resource management for capacity building for forest ranger force of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park and Dong Chau-Khe Nuoc Nature Reserve.
Implementing the plan of 2023, from 24th to 25th November 2022, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) in collaboration with the Quang Binh Provincial Forest Protection Department, the joint working group of Quang Ninh district (District Police, Forest Protection Sub-department, Market Management Team) implemented the activity of "Dissemination and guidance on legal regulations related to forest and wildlife encroachment" in Van Ninh, An Ninh, Xuan Ninh, Tan Ninh, Truong Xuan and Truong Son communes for officials at commune and village level, restaurant owners and business units in Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province.
On November 22, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lao Cai province with the support of the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) held a conference to develop a organic cinnamon development plan in Lao Cai province in 2023.
Following the series of activities in 2022, from 6-8th November 2022 in Hoi An city, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) in collaboration with the Quang Nam Provincial Forest Protection Department hosted a training course on legal knowledge related to wildlife conservation for the community conservation group of communes in the buffer zone of the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area in Quang Nam province.
On the morning of 7th November 2022, the Central Management Unit of VFBC Project, DAI Project Executing Unit, the Vietnam Handicraft Exporters Association (Vietcraft) accompanied the delegation of US Congressmen’s Office and US Agency for International Development visited and worked with Lacquer World Co., Ltd at Phu Nghia Industrial Park, Chuong My, Hanoi.
On 21st October 2022, in Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) supported the Vietnam Administration of Forestry to organize a workshop on payment for forest environmental services in aquaculture and fishing activities.
On October 19, VBFC Project Management Unit of Quang Binh Province in collaboration with the People's Committee of Hoa Son Commune, Minh Hoa District and Helvetas organization in Vietnam held the launching ceremony of Hoa Son Agricultural Cooperative and awarded VietGAP certificates to 20 hectares of peanuts and 200 beehives.
