The VFBC project supported to organize the workshop "Cooperation on forest management in Vietnam: practice and development"

GLX Communities account for a large proportion of the actors in forest development. However, the current policy is still limited and the location of this group has not been clearly defined. Cooperation on forest management is the coordination, cooperation and voluntary association between the forest management board, State forestry company and the community or between members of the community to jointly manage, protect and develop the forest. With the support of the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) funded by USAID, the workshop “Cooperation on forest management in Vietnam: practice and development” has just been taken place in Hanoi, chaired by the Department of International Cooperation in collaboration with the VNForestry, and with the participation of agencies, departments and experts in related fields. Experts in the forestry sector had a discussion to find out effective forest management models, appropriate roadmaps and policy recommendations, as well as clarify the roles and responsibilities of actors in the cooperation process in forest management, protection and development.

The workshop was chaired by the Department of International Cooperation in collaboration with the VNForestry, and also had the participation of agencies, departments and experts in related fields.

Vietnam has four forms of community cooperative in forest management: Community forest management;
Communities contracted for forest protection; Forest patrol community; Forest co-management
