VFBC project: Implementation of the activity “Disseminating and guiding legal regulations related to forest and wildlife encroachment” in project communes in Quang Binh province

Implementing the plan of 2023, from 24th to 25th November 2022, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) in collaboration with the Quang Binh Provincial Forest Protection Department, the joint working group of Quang Ninh district (District Police, Forest Protection Sub-department, Market Management Team) implemented the activity of "Dissemination and guidance on legal regulations related to forest and wildlife encroachment" in Van Ninh, An Ninh, Xuan Ninh, Tan Ninh, Truong Xuan and Truong Son communes for officials at commune and village level, restaurant owners and business units in Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province.

The VFBC project supports to organize the Conference on development of organic cinnamon development plan in Lao Cai province in 2023

On November 22, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lao Cai province with the support of the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) held a conference to develop a organic cinnamon development plan in Lao Cai province in 2023.

VFBC Project: Training on “Dissemination of legal knowledge related to wildlife conservation for community conservation groups” in Quang Nam province.

Following the series of activities in 2022, from 6-8th November 2022 in Hoi An city, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) in collaboration with the Quang Nam Provincial Forest Protection Department hosted a training course on legal knowledge related to wildlife conservation for the community conservation group of communes in the buffer zone of the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area in Quang Nam province.

VFBC project: The delegation of the US Congressmen’s Office participated in the signing ceremony of cooperation agreement within the framework of VFBC project.

On the morning of 7th November 2022, the Central Management Unit of VFBC Project, DAI Project Executing Unit, the Vietnam Handicraft Exporters Association (Vietcraft) accompanied the delegation of US Congressmen’s Office and US Agency for International Development visited and worked with Lacquer World Co., Ltd at Phu Nghia Industrial Park, Chuong My, Hanoi.

On 21st October 2022, in Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) supported the Vietnam Administration of Forestry to organize a workshop on payment for forest environmental services in aquaculture and fishing activities.

VFBC project supports in developing OCOP products in Hoa Son commune, Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh

On October 19, VBFC Project Management Unit of Quang Binh Province in collaboration with the People's Committee of Hoa Son Commune, Minh Hoa District and Helvetas organization in Vietnam held the launching ceremony of Hoa Son Agricultural Cooperative and awarded VietGAP certificates to 20 hectares of peanuts and 200 beehives.

Implementation of the 2022 work plan, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) and Forest Protection Department of Thua Thien Hue province has chaired and coordinated to organize a training course on "Improving legal knowledge related to wildlife conservation" for community conservation groups in Thuong Lo commune, Nam Dong district and Hong Van commune, A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue province from September 25, 2022 to September 27, 2022 in Hue city. This is an activity under Sub-Component 9 of the VFBC Project to reduce the demand for wildlife meat through behavioral change methods for communities living in the buffer zones of the National Parks, conservation areas in Thua Thien Hue province.

Capacity building for forestry seedling nurseries

(QNO) - From 3rd – 5th August, in Tam Ky City, Quang Nam's Project Management Board of the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) organized a training course to improve capacity of producing forestry seedlings for nursery owners and forest seedling officers in the province area.

Forest rangers of three provinces (Son La, Dien Bien and Lai Chau) signed the Regulation on cooperation of forest management and protection, forest product management, and forest fire prevention in contiguous areas.

On 22th July 2022, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) supported Son La Forest Protection Department to organize a conference to evaluate coordination in forest management and protection, forest product management, and forest fire prevention in the border areas of the three provinces of Son La, Dien Bien and Lai Chau.

Tourism culinary training for the Bru-Van Kieu people

(QBĐT) - On June 28, Helvetas organization in collaboration with Netin Tourism Co., Ltd organized a training course on "Tourism cuisine for forest-dependent communities" in the buffer zone of Dong Chau - Khe Nuoc Trong Nature Reserve, Kim Thuy commune (Le Thuy).

On 9th June, in Sam Son city - Thanh Hoa province, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the Sustainable Forest Management Component of the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) funded by USAID to organize a conference on policy implementation, investment promotion, sustainable forestry development and a preliminary review of 10 years of implementation of the policy on payment for forest environmental services in the province.

Consultation about the draft Decree amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Decree No. 156/2018/ND-CP

On 3rd June 2022, in Moc Chau - Son La, the General Department of Forestry in collaboration with the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) held a workshop to consult on the contents of draft Decree amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Government's Decree No. 156/2018/ND-CP dated November 16, 2018 detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Forest Law. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Tran Quang Bao, Deputy Director of the General Department of Forestry.
