Strengthening the participation of the press in prevention of wildlife trade
GLX This morning (June 13, in Hanoi, the Saving Threatened Wildlife Project sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper held a workshop on Strengthening the participation of reporters and journalists in preventing illegal wildlife trade.
Ms. Tran Thi Nam Ha, Deputy Director of the Central Project Management Unit - Saving Threatened Wildlife Project spoke at the workshop.
Mr. Le Trong Dam - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper spoke at the workshop.
Launching 12 journalists/reporter who are committed to join the network of reporters investigating illegal wildlife trade..
The Saving Threatened Wildlife (STW) Project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and is owned by the Management Board for Forestry Projects - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MBFP), in collaboration with implementation of WWF, TRAFFIC and ENV. The project objective is to strengthen commitment and support of leaders at all levels and sectors from central to local levels; mobilize support from the private sector to reduce demand and illegal consumption of wildlife products On 15th February, the Management Board for Forestry Projects (MBFP), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), TRAFFIC International and the Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper signed a cooperation agreement to carry out activities of the STW Project. |
