More than 500 athletes participated in the "Running to conserve wildlife" for the first time held at Bach Ma National Park
GLX In response to the World Wildlife Day (March 3), on the morning of 5th March, the "Running to conserve wildlife" was held at Bach Ma National Park, Thua Thien Hue province.
This is the first running race held in Bach Ma National Park, attracting more than 500 athletes participating in 3 distances: 3km, 13km and 33km
The event is within the framework of the Biodiversity Conservation Component (BCA) implemented by WWF in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, under the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Participating in the running race, athletes will experience the majestic primeval forest road.
Bach Ma National Park is home to more than 2,000 species of plants and more than 1,500 species of animals, many of which are on the Vietnam Red Book and the IUCN list.
On the way, athletes also have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery of Do Quyen waterfall, Ngu Ho, Hai Vong Dai ...
Through the running event, the organizers called for the community's support in conserving Vietnam's wild animals and plants, reducing and ending the demand for illegal wildlife meat and other products from them.

Athletes received medal after completing the running race
The organizers awarded a total of 12 prizes (6 prizes for male athletes and 6 prizes for female athletes) at distances of 13km and 33km
At 68th session, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared March 3 every year as World Wildlife Day. This date was chosen because it was the birth date of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) signed in 1973. Vietnam has been one of the signatories to the implementation of this Convention since 1994. World Wildlife Day 2023 is also the occasion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of CITES. |
