Over the past two decades, Vietnam has made great efforts in perfecting the legal framework for wildlife protection, with severe penalties being introduced, and strengthening the capacity of law enforcement. However, crime of wildlife trade and consumption remains a dilemma. Therefore, enhancing the leadership role of the Government in prevention of illegal wildlife trade in policy formulation, further improving the legal framework, strengthening law enforcement and justice, and reducing demand for wildlife products are the cross-cutting priorities that the Saving Threatened Wildlife Project focuses on in support of the Government of Vietnam. |
