VFBC project: The delegation of the US Congressmen’s Office participated in the signing ceremony of cooperation agreement within the framework of VFBC project.

On the morning of 7th November 2022, the Central Management Unit of VFBC Project, DAI Project Executing Unit, the Vietnam Handicraft Exporters Association (Vietcraft) accompanied the delegation of US Congressmen’s Office and US Agency for International Development visited and worked with Lacquer World Co., Ltd at Phu Nghia Industrial Park, Chuong My, Hanoi.

Consultation workshop on Vietnam's proposals at CoP19

On 31st October 2022, implementing Activity 2.1.4 of the Work plan 2022 approved by MARD, the Management Board for Forestry Project - Saving Threatened Wildlife Project (STW) sponsored by USAID (Project owner) and WWF (the contractor) assisted the CITES Management Authority to organize a "Consultation workshop on the proposal of transfering the list of two species to prepare for Vietnam delegation attending CITES COP19” at Cuc Phuong National Park, Ninh Binh.

On 21st October 2022, in Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) supported the Vietnam Administration of Forestry to organize a workshop on payment for forest environmental services in aquaculture and fishing activities.

VFBC project supports in developing OCOP products in Hoa Son commune, Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh

On October 19, VBFC Project Management Unit of Quang Binh Province in collaboration with the People's Committee of Hoa Son Commune, Minh Hoa District and Helvetas organization in Vietnam held the launching ceremony of Hoa Son Agricultural Cooperative and awarded VietGAP certificates to 20 hectares of peanuts and 200 beehives.

Field trip of SNRM project in Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province

From October 19, 2022 to October 20, 2022, a Mission of Management Board for Forestry Projects - Central Management Unit of SNRM2 Project and representative of the JICA Cooperation Agency at the head office coordinated to inspect activities of the projects implemented in Vietnam. The Mission worked with the SNRM2 Project Management Unit in Hoa Binh province and visited the implementation site of the SNRM project in Thanh Hoi commune, Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province.

In the morning of 13th October 2022 in Hanoi, the STW project in collaboration with the CITES management authority of Vietnam held a consultation workshop to review proposals related to Vietnam at COP19.

At present, at the headquarters of the General Department of Customs, Acting General Director of the Management Board for Forestry Project and Project Director of Saving Threatened Wildlife Project (STW) – Mr. Do Quang Tung and project officials had a meeting with the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department, General Department of Vietnam Customs. STW Project: Consultation workshop on drafting project work plan in 2023

Recently, the STW Project held a consultation workshop on draft project operation plan in 2023 in Da Nang city. Mr. Do Quang Tung - Acting General Director of the Management Board for Forestry Project and Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hieu - Deputy Director of the Forest Protection Department co-chaired the workshop.

The VFBC project organized a training course on “Improving legal knowledge related to wildlife conservation” for community conservation groups

Implementation of the 2022 work plan, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) and Forest Protection Department of Thua Thien Hue province has chaired and coordinated to organize a training course on "Improving legal knowledge related to wildlife conservation" for community conservation groups in Thuong Lo commune, Nam Dong district and Hong Van commune, A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue province from September 25, 2022 to September 27, 2022 in Hue city. This is an activity under Sub-Component 9 of the VFBC Project to reduce the demand for wildlife meat through behavioral change methods for communities living in the buffer zones of the National Parks, conservation areas in Thua Thien Hue province.

Scientific conference to discuss solutions for sustainable cinnamon development in Lao Cai province

On the afternoon of September 24, 2022, in Bao Yen district, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee held a conference to discuss solutions for sustainable development of cinnamon trees in Lao Cai province. Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee chaired the workshop.

Central Management Unit of SNRM2 Project worked and visited the project site in Tuyen Quang province

From September 21, 2022 to the end of September 22, 2022, the mission of Management Board for Forestry Project - Central Management Unit and Consulting Office of SNRM2 Project had a meeting with the Project Management Unit in Tuyen Quang province and Tan Trao Special-use Forest Management Board (the target forest owner of SNRM2 Project in Tuyen Quang province) to implement some activities in the 2022 plan under the project's program.

Management Board Forestry Project - Training and dissemination of new points in administrative work and state document storage in 2022

On the morning of 13th September 2022, the Management Board for Forestry Projects (MBFP) held the opening ceremony of training course on administrative works in 2022. Attending the training course were more than 60 participants who are leaders and officials of the professional departments and projects; leaders and officers directly doing administrative work of the MBFP.

STW Project - Workshop on "Strengthening prevention of money laundering from illegal wildlife trade"

Recently, the STW project collaborated with the Association of Banks to organize a seminar on “Strengthening prevention of money laundering from illegal wildlife trade” in Hanoi. Attending the workshop were representatives of the Vietnam Administration of Forestry, Management Board for Forestry Projects, Environmental Police Department - Ministry of Public Security, State Bank of Vietnam and financial institutions including banks, money transfer service companies, financial technology companies and representatives of domestic and international organizations and experts.

On 31st August 2022, at B6 yard of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development - No. 02 Ngoc Ha, Ba Dinh, Hanoi and at the Gymnasium of the Guard Command - No. 21 Ngoc Ha, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, Sports festival for officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2022 was held. The sports festival was organized by the Trade Union of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to celebrate the August Revolution and the 77th anniversary of the National Day (2nd September). In the atmosphere of sports festival of all officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Trade Union of the Management Board for Forestry Projects (MBFP) has appointed members participate in sports festival and get high achievements in sports competitions.

SNRM2 Project: Training on sustainable forest management and forest certification under the national forest certification system in Tuyen Quang

In order to improve the capacity of state management agencies and forest owners who wish to access forest certification in the future, implement sustainable forest management and issue forest certification under the National Forest Certification System (VFCS). From 10 - 12 August 2022 in Tuyen Quang province, the Management Board for Forestry Projects - SNRM2 Project organized a training course on sustainable forest management and forest certification under national forest certification system for trainees from the project's target provinces of Hoa Binh, Son La, Tuyen Quang and Lao Cai.

SNRM2 Project: Training on operating mobile application in forest management and monitoring for the forest rangers in Tuyen Quang and Hoa Binh provinces.

Within the 2022 implementation plan of the Project on Enhancing Sustainable Natural Resource Management (SNRM2), to improve knowledge and skills in operating the Forest Resource Monitoring System (FRMS) , SNRM2 Project and Forest Protection Departments of Tuyen Quang, Hoa Binh provinces coordinated and chaired the training course on "Operating mobile applications in forest management and monitoring" in Tuyen Quang province from 27- 29 July 2022 and in Hoa Binh province from 10-12 August 2022.

Promoting communication through the press in implementation of the STW project.

In order to strengthen communication in combating the endangered wildlife trade as well as the other activities of STW project, on the afternoon of August 12, at the headquarters of Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper, the Central Management Board of STW project and STW Project Office (WWF) had a working session with Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper. Welcoming and working with the delegation were Mr. Nguyen Trong Dam - Deputy Editor, reporters and editors of the Newspaper.

Capacity building for forestry seedling nurseries

(QNO) - From 3rd – 5th August, in Tam Ky City, Quang Nam's Project Management Board of the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) organized a training course to improve capacity of producing forestry seedlings for nursery owners and forest seedling officers in the province area.

Forest rangers of three provinces (Son La, Dien Bien and Lai Chau) signed the Regulation on cooperation of forest management and protection, forest product management, and forest fire prevention in contiguous areas.

On 22th July 2022, the Project on Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam (VFBC) supported Son La Forest Protection Department to organize a conference to evaluate coordination in forest management and protection, forest product management, and forest fire prevention in the border areas of the three provinces of Son La, Dien Bien and Lai Chau.
